The project that became Blue River Bio was accepted into the Stanford SPARK Translational Research Program as one of 18 teams selected for the year.
SPARK’s mission is to advance academic discoveries from laboratory to patient care. Founded and directed by Daria Mochly-Rosen, PhD, the program accepts product proposals for any clinical indication from Stanford professors, clinicians, postdoctoral scholars, and graduate students. Teams receive hands-on advising and funding, together with world-class counsel from industry advisors and academic experts who work closely with them to provide the industry knowledge necessary to move projects from bench to bedside.
The program’s track record is exceptional: more than half of SPARK projects have moved into the clinical or commercial sectors, and dozens have become start-ups or been licensed to existing companies. SPARK is where our founding team came together to develop the assets that Blue River Bio is now taking forward.
